Praeis

As an art assistant for the project "Praeis," which was filmed in Kleipeda, Lithuania, I was also tasked with creating a number of graphic design elements, such as cigarette packaging and newspaper inserts.

"Praeis" is set in Lithuania in the 2000s and centres on a young woman and her father who smuggle cigarettes from Eastern European nations including Russia, Belarus, Bulgaria, etc.

Therefore, actual cigarettes from the end of the 1990s to the beginning of the 2000s from countries that provided cigarettes to Lithuania served as the largest inspiration for the cigarette packaging. In order for audiences to recognise the familiar packages and heighten the nostalgic sense of the film, several of these were purposefully almost entirely duplicated from the original packages.
