Quelques Nuits D’hiver

"Quelques nuits d’hiver", a beautiful French film that was my second as a Production Designer, was shot in Paris in February 2023. This was my first time coordinating production design for a project in another country, which presented several obstacles, such as transportation and prop sourcing on a budget. Because the film focuses heavily on French culture and the aesthetic of Paris, it was critical to research and plan a fitting atmosphere through production design, such as food in one of the film's most important scenes - the dinner scene - having to be a good representation of a French society and culture, as well as the main characters' lifestyle and relationships. As another main focus of the film is the character's journey of figuring out his complicated fear of intimacy and loneliness, the production design was intentionally minimalistic in most scenes to compliment the quietness and stillness of lonely walks though Paris at night, as the main idea of those is the beauty of the city and and never resting mind of the protagonist.
